New Year’s Resolutions to Help Reduce Your Stress In 2024
Millions of people make New Year’s resolutions each year to reduce their stress, but how many people actually stick with it? The secret to success is making realistic resolutions.
If you’re looking for a little bit of inspiration with your 2024 resolutions, check out our list of healthy New Year’s resolutions that can not only help to reduce your stress, but also improve your overall health.
1. Schedule Regular Spa Time
No matter how busy your schedule, setting aside 20 minutes each night, or even every other night, for soaking in your spa is easy. Once the kids are in bed and the dinner dishes are washed, it’s the perfect time for the hot tub. Grab a cool drink and sink into the heated water for some hydromassage.
Not only does the jet massage relax your body and relieve tension, but, when combined with hot water, it produces stress-relieving chemicals in the brain, giving you an all-natural high.
2. Commit to Healthy Eating
Rather than going on a diet or counting calories, simply commit to healthier eating.
Incorporating lots of vegetables and fruit into your diet along with whole-grain carbs and lean proteins will energize your body, reduce stress levels and may even lead to weight loss.
That doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself, but limit sugary desserts or fatty foods to only one or two times each week.
3. Get Physical
Sticking to an exercise regime can be hard. Instead of heading to the gym every night or forcing yourself to get up early to jog each morning, set realistic goals that you know you can stick to.
Choose activities you enjoy be it walking, playing basketball or swimming and commit to incorporating them into your schedule.
Exercising for 30 minutes three to four times a week is enough to relieve stress and offer up a variety of other health benefits — and it doesn’t require hours of hard work.
4. Get More Sleep
It’s hard to battle stress when you’re feeling tired and sluggish. One of the best resolutions you can make in 2023 is to get enough sleep each night. It’s while we’re sleeping that our brains are able to recharge and our bodies rest and recover.
Adults typically need seven to nine hours of sleep per night to be at their best, so rather than staying up late to watch TV or text with friends, why not treat yourself to a good night’s sleep each night? You’ll have increased energy and focus and be better equipped to deal with stress.
5. Invest in Self Care
Making your health a priority is a great way to start 2024. Whether that means budgeting for a monthly massage, seeing a chiropractor regularly or investing in a personal trainer, remember your health is worth it.
Sometimes self-care means taking an hour away from it all to get a facial or go shopping. It may mean going for a walk alone or treating yourself to that new book you’ve been wanting to read.
Making time for yourself will not only help you to feel better physically, but mentally as well. And when you take time to take care of yourself, stress melts away.
